Design Build & Construction Management
ARG Conservation Services has worked with a diverse range of public and private entities to tailor conservation projects, both as a sole-source entity and a general contractor managing teams of rehabilitation specialists in concert with other design professionals. The firm is equipped to undertake LEED-related projects.
Materials Conservation
ARG Conservation Services employs trained conservators who combine their expertise in modern methods and traditional craftsmanship to restore a broad spectrum of materials including historic finishes, murals, metals, stone, masonry, wood, and plaster. Work is performed onsite and in our conservation lab.
Seismic Upgrades
ARG Conservation Services undertakes seismic upgrades of monuments and historic structures. The latter include specialty projects involving archaic materials like stone and adobe, in addition to concrete and other conventional building materials.
Surveys & Recommendations
ARG Conservation Services is frequently retained to conduct detailed surveys and provide recommendations for treatment and conservation of historic structures and cultural materials. The firm employs in-house diagnostic and laboratory equipment to evaluate structural features and analyze materials and finishes. ARG/CS also offers facade inspection services for buildings subject to San Francisco Facade Inspection requirements.
Representation
ARG Conservation Services staff are well-acquainted with the standards for state and federal review processes relating to historic preservation projects. During the life of a project, our team secures conceptual approvals with local and building code officials and represents clients before regulatory agencies. We often work with non-profit groups and stewards of historic landmarks, and are pleased to offer public information sessions to assist with fundraising efforts and advocacy.
Education & Outreach
ARG Conservation Services is committed to promoting historic preservation through community advocacy and professional development. ARG Conservation Services runs a robust internship program, hosts regular Conservation Roundtables with other leaders in the field, and maintains an AIA credit program. Principals and staff run workshops and training courses for conservators and stewards of monuments and historic buildings.
